Years before, Carletta was founder and owner of two businesses simultaneously: Carletta’s Sweet Things, LLC a wholesale home based bakery, and Imperial Cleaning Services, LLC.

Carletta Knox-Seymour, is the founder and president of Dignity Power Skills Consulting & Training, LLC. She is trained as a facilitator and trainer through TrainSmart Global Training Inc. Her business is certified by the Targeted Small Business (TSB) organization of Iowa.

Having earned a B.A. in print journalism with an emphasis in pubic relations and minored in the African Diaspora and African American Studies, Carletta’s career path and volunteer opportunities are as such:Currently serving as the first African-American woman as state president of Iowa for the American Association University of Women (AAUW) national organization; served four years as the first African-American branch president for Cedar Rapids, IA; served as the state diversity director; and served as a board of director for an inner city private school in Milwaukee, WI; fund developer for a homeless shelter in Milwaukee, communications manager for a rehabilitation organization for children in Cedar Rapids; grant writer for multiple nonprofit organizations; served as the first African-American Cedar Rapids City Planning Commissioner; state board president for Iowans 4 Gun Safety; and penned many Op-Ed’s for The Gazette newspaper in Cedar Rapids.
